Tunnel Instructor
Each tunnel employs up to ten instructors on a full or part time basis. The work is hard but rewarding and the minimum contract is for two years. Training includes four, 60 hour weeks.
Duties
To work in shifts of up to five instructors (including the Shift Manager) and to undertake hard physical work and often anti-social hours. Commitment to customer service and safety is paramount and instructors will receive continual training as part of the job.

The candidate will be of a hands-on nature, enthusiastic, capable and innovative. They will constantly strive to find new ways of providing a safe, fun and profitable experience for customers and work hard to help build a new sport.

- Fitness qualification: A tunnel instructor’s job is a physically demanding one and all applicants must be in excellent physical shape, flexible, in good health and with no previous injuries that would affect performance or endurance in the tunnel. Applicants will be required to complete the following dead lift test, a stretch and a strength test.
- The dead lift test is done by lifting a 75lbs weighted bag and placing it on to a table at least 36 inches tall.
- The stretch & strength test consists of a 45 second jog-in-place (with knees up to waist level), 20 push-ups, 50 sit-ups, 6 pull-ups and toe touch with straight legs.
- Jog-in-place is defined by bringing your knees to your waist. Push-ups start with your chest on the floor and end with straight body and arms. Sit-ups require you to touch your elbows to your knees, with or without your feet being held in place. Pull-ups start with straight arms and end with touching the back of your neck to the bar or your chin to the top of bar. WE URGE YOU TO TRY THIS TEST BEFORE SENDING THE APPLICATION FORM.

Prospects
Apart from a basic salary, instructors will have the opportunity to earn overtime and extra payments. Longer-term, Instructors may improve their qualifications which offers opportunities to become a Shift Manager or join other Airkix operations. The Airkix coaching is recognised by many other tunnels Worldwide and is conducted under IBA rules (International Bodyflight Association).
