Congratulations, you’ll soon be flying at Airkix which is a fantastic experience and maybe the beginning of a whole new adventure as you learn the basics of human flight. It’s exhilarating, fun and safe in our tunnels. There’s no jumping, no plunging, no bad weather and no aeroplanes, just pure fun.

Your experience will last between an hour and two and after checking in you’ll attend a short class in the briefing room.We’ll then issue you with a flight suit and equipment before you and your flight buddies enter the staging area of the tunnel.

Depending on your flight package you will have a number of flights and minutes in the 100+mph airflow where you will learn the basics of flying your body.We’ll probably get you through the first few levels of basic bodyflight which we’ll record on your flight certificate.

After flying it’s smiles and big grins all round. If we have time you can hop back in for further flights before handing in the kit and checking out the DVD or digital photos we usually take.

Don’t forget, if you really take to the air, you may wish to take advantage of the special prices for regular flyers and join one of our programmes. You are also welcome to bring friends and family who can watch you fly in our viewing gallery.

Where and When to Report

You will need to report to our reception at least 60 minutes before flying. This allows for the completion of the Statement of Risk that should have been filled out online by each member of the party.

When to get to Airkix Arrival time is most important as you are responsible for being at Airkix in plenty of time to sign in and complete the basic paperwork before attending the flight briefing and entering the tunnel.

Please note that if you miss your class you lose your flight! For the avoidance of all doubt, your flight time (or start time as it maybe referred to) shows the time at which you will commence your flights in the Airkix wind tunnel. Please check your booking paperwork and ensure you arrive 60 minutes before your flight time for check-in and to allow us to give you all the necessary freefall training and briefing.

Manchester

Follow the directions and use our free car park, but please be aware that the car park gets very full and the traffic can be horrendous at busy times. It is your responsibility to be here on time and we hate to see people miss out :-(

Milton Keynes

Follow the directions to Xscape in Central Milton Keynes and use one of the Xscape car parks but please be aware that they do charge (sorry) and that there are different zones. Enter the Xscape building and head towards the snow slope, we are just beyond that by the ski hire. Basically, we are at the sharp end of the building.

What to Wear

It is very important that you come comfortably, casually dressed and that you wear well fitting lace-up trainers or skate shoes. If you are unable to do so, you may hire trainers from us on the day.

We also advise wearing a shirt with no collar as they can vibrate in the air around your neck. We will issue you with a special flight-suit that goes over normal clothes and please note we will ask you to take off all jewellery, empty your pockets and ensure there are no objects that can come free in the airflow, it makes a mess of the motors but it’s even worse on your car keys or favourite necklace!

Flyers with long hair may also want to bring a hairbrush!

Can I fly?

Good question, and the good news is that almost anyone can enjoy flying at Airkix.

 

“We arrived 20 minutes late due to getting lost, however this was sorted very quickly by the staff and we managed not to lose our slot!!, the briefing was very good, good explanation of equipment and then onto some flying, this is one of the best experiences I have ever tried, sorry to say I can't remember the Instructor's name however he was excellent (12.35pm), if you have never tried this before you must it was that good, not as easy as I was hoping however that is always the way, if I didn't live 3 hrs away we would be back again and again, Thanks again for great day out.”First-time non-skydiver, aged 41
